Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist and Arm Pain Treated at Guildford Chiropractic Centre

Pain in the shoulder, elbow, wrist or arm can affect everything from lifting and reaching to typing, dressing or even sleeping. Whether the problem came on suddenly or has been building for some time, our experienced team at Guildford Chiropractic Centre is here to help.

We look at the whole body to understand the root cause of your discomfort—not just the area that hurts. Through gentle chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy and tailored rehabilitation plans, we aim to reduce pain, restore movement and prevent future flare-ups.

Below you’ll find some of the most common upper limb conditions we treat. This is general information only; a full in-person assessment is essential to determine the exact cause of your symptoms and create a personalised treatment plan.

Shoulder Pain

Including rotator cuff injuries, frozen shoulder, impingement and postural strain.

The shoulder is a complex joint that relies on strength, mobility and stability. It’s easily affected by injury, poor posture, or tension in the neck and upper back.

Common symptoms:

  • Pain when lifting your arm or reaching overhead

  • Stiffness or restricted movement

  • Pain referring into the upper arm or between the shoulder blades

  • Night-time pain or discomfort lying on your side

Treatment may include joint mobilisation, soft tissue release, posture correction and strengthening exercises to restore function and ease discomfort.

Elbow Pain

Including tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) and golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis).

Elbow pain often results from overuse or repetitive strain, especially in sports or occupations involving gripping, typing or lifting.

Common symptoms:

  • Pain around the outside or inside of the elbow

  • Discomfort when lifting objects, shaking hands or turning doorknobs

  • Weak grip strength

  • Stiffness or swelling around the joint

Our chiropractors will assess for muscle imbalances or referred pain from the neck or shoulder. Treatment may involve soft tissue therapy, joint mobilisation and advice on movement modification.

Wrist Pain

Including repetitive strain injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome and joint dysfunction.

Your wrists play a vital role in everyday movements—from typing and writing to lifting and gripping. Wrist pain is often caused by overuse, poor ergonomics, or nerve irritation, and can sometimes be linked to issues higher up in the arm, shoulder or neck.

Common symptoms:

  • Pain or stiffness in the wrist or hand

  • Tingling, numbness or weakness (especially at night)

  • Discomfort with gripping or weight-bearing activities

  • Swelling or a feeling of instability in the wrist

Our chiropractors will assess not just the wrist, but also your posture, shoulder and neck to identify contributing factors. Treatment may include joint mobilisation, soft tissue therapy, ergonomic advice and rehab exercises to support long-term recovery.

Arm Pain and Nerve Irritation

Including referred pain from the neck or trapped nerves (such as cervical radiculopathy).

Pain, tingling or weakness in the arm or hand may originate from irritation of the nerves in the neck or upper spine.

Common symptoms:

  • Shooting or burning pain down the arm

  • Numbness, pins and needles or altered sensation

  • Weakness in the hand, wrist or arm

  • Pain that changes with head or neck movement

We’ll assess your spine, posture and nerve function to identify any underlying irritation or restriction. Chiropractic care can help reduce pressure on the nerves, relieve muscle tension and improve mobility.
