A Brief History
Guildford Chiropractic Centre is one of the longest established chiropractic clinics in the south of England. Founded by Donald and Elizabeth Bennett, it is now headed by Alain Michelotti, who took over in October 2006, at 200 London Road, Burpham.
Donald and Elizabeth Bennett founded the Centre at The Gate House, Abbotswood in 1953. Elizabeth came from a long line of chiropractors, including her father and grandfather. In the 1950’s, Guildford Chiropractic Centre was the only chiropractic practice between London and the south coast.
Donald and Elizabeth spent many years in the service of their profession. They were also instrumental in setting up the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic (AECC) in Bournemouth and held posts in the British Chiropractic Association. Their son, Russell, started to work with them in 1979 and took over the running of the practice during the ensuring years.
In 1991 Alain Michelotti joined the practice with 21 years of chiropractic experience behind him. Before qualifying as a chiropractor he spent several years working as a physiotherapist in his native France. Alain expanded the scope of the practice by contributing both areas of his expertise. On Russell’s retirement in 2006, Alain took over as Principal of the practice, ensuring continuity for patients.
Alain’s team includes Andy Hewitt, Philip Hehir and Sandy Boniface who, like him, have graduated from AECC in Bournemouth, thus continuing to promote the long tradition of Guildford Chiropractic Centre. They bring further specialities to the practice; Andy is interested in the application of western-style acupuncture, Philip enjoys the challenge of treating sports injuries and Sandy in the care for infants and pregnant women.
